Meet the Doctors
Scott B. Pomerantz, M.D.
Dr. Scott Pomerantz received his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in 1982. He then attended the prestigious Emory University School of Medicine , and received his medical degree in 1986. Dr. Pomerantz completed his residency training at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, where he gained experience learning under some of the top minds at The Montefiore Medical Center. He was selected by the Chairman of the Department to serve as Chief Resident during his final year of residency.
Dr. Pomerantz entered private practice in Paramus, New Jersey in 1990, where he has been practicing for the past two decades. He has performed thousands of cataract surgeries and laser treatments for glaucoma. He is on the cutting edge of cataract surgery, glaucoma management, and macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Pomerantz is the first surgeon in Bergen County to perform cataract surgery using the new Catalys femto laser.
Dr. Pomerantz is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. For over 20 years, Dr. Pomerantz has been providing outstanding skill, quality eye care, integrity, and compassion to the Bergen County community.
Adrian W. Jachens, M.D.
Dr. Adrian W. Jachens, M.D., born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey, completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. He continued with his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident his final year. Dr. Jachens then concluded his fellowship training in Cornea, Cataract and External Disease at the University of Texas–Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Jachens specializes in cataract, laser refractive, and corneal surgery. He has extensive experience in laser assisted cataract surgery, multi-focal and extended depth of focus intraocular lens implants, presbyopia correcting corneal inlays, LASIK and PRK procedures. Dr. Jachens also performs corneal transplants and handles complex corneal and ocular surface diseases such as dry eye syndrome and infections.
Dr. Jachens is board certified and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology.
Thomas J. LoPresti, O.D.
Dr. Thomas LoPresti is a licensed Optometric Physician, and has been in practice since 1992. His clinical background experience ranges from primary eye care to specialty eye care, including hard to fit contact lens patients, glaucoma treatment and management, and post-operative cataract care.
Dr. LoPresti is a lifelong resident of Bergen County, having graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School in 1983. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Seton Hall University in 1987, and completed his doctorate at the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 1992.
During his graduate training, Dr. LoPresti completed externships at the Lahey Eye Clinic in Massachusetts and Omni Eye Services in New Jersey, where he gained experience in neuro-ophthalmology and diabetic eye care. His training also included post-operative care and surgical co-management with various ophthalmic sub-specialists.
In 2007, Dr. LoPresti completed additional training and received his license for prescribing oral medications in New Jersey, which further enhances his scope of practice and available treatment options for his patients.
Before joining Metropolitan Eye Care in 2005, Dr. LoPresti owned and operated a private optometric practice for 14 years. This provided him with hands-on practice management skills, as well as extensive experience in the treatment and management of ocular disease.

James Cindrario, O.D.
Dr. James Cindrario attended Seton Hall University for his undergraduate work and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry. Dr. Cindrario has completed externships at Capital Eye Consultants, Fairfax, Virgina and The New England Eye Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. He further trained at Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center in Connecticut, where he worked with and aided the visually impaired to overcome the challenges of vision loss. In addition, he completed internships in Primary Care, Ocular Disease, and Vision Therapy.
His professional experience includes extensive knowledge in specialty experience includes extensive knowledge in specialty contact lens fitting including multifocal lenses, those correcting astigmatism, keratoconus, and gas permeable lens fits. He has years of experience in fitting contact lenses manufactured with the latest technology. Dr. Cindrario also has a wide range of clinical experience, including the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, urgent care related to eye injuries and infections. In addition, he is well trained in preoperative and postoperative procedures.
Dr. Cindrario has been in private practice in both New York and New Jersey for over 20 years. During that time he has also worked at Garden State Medical Group, a multidisciplinary medical practice in Paramus, N.J.
